Sunday Funday - Long Run

Hey All,

Looking at trying to get in a good fall run before it gets too cold...

Plan is to run from Summit Lake Trailhead to Slovenia Trailhead all along the Wyoming Trail 1101. Looking at maps it is about 25 miles.

Car shuttle would take place on Saturday evening.

Planning on leaving town around 6am on Sunday and running by 7am.

      Hey Eric,

      I am searching online for a topo for you. If you happen to have a Sky Terrain Steamboat / Mount Zirkel Map, it is pretty easy to map out. Start is at Summit Lake Campground, following the Wyoming Trail 1101 to Gold Camp Lake, then probably just head down to the Slovenia trail head.

    I don't have that map yet but it sounds like I should find one! I think I pieced together the trail on Google earth though - looks like a stellar route. Will we have enough cars at Slovenia if I drive up to Summit on Sunday and meet everyone there?

      Yeah, we should have plenty of room. Still watching weather though as we are supposed to get snow up high Friday... May have to pull the plug if there is too much... fingers crossed... will keep you posted.

    count me in for that!!! I am going to a wedding on Saturday so won't be able to help with the shuttle. I could run the shuttle Friday night though...

    Awesome - that's three at least! I'll check back here on Saturday night to make sure it's a go. What about carpooling up on Sunday morning? I can fit 4 comfortably-ish and 5 with a tight squeeze.

    So that snow up above 9,000' this morning -- what does that mean for the CDT above 10,000? Nothing good I assume!

    Hey all,

    Slight change of plan, I drove up buff pass road this morning. Didn't even go all the way up to summit lake as there was about 6 " just beyond dry lake.

    Still thinking about a run out that way, but now thinking just a zirkel circle lap. Leaving steamboat around 645 tomorrow morning.

    Send me a text if your interested. We could carpool out from town... Maybe we get lucky next weekend and go for the extended version...

    Keep me in mind for the extended version. I know Mike H was talking about a similar route up on the CDT for next weekend.
